Hi, folks, I'm a newbie. What does it mean to say a phone is "rooted?"

Oops, I did some more browsing and answered my own question. Thanks anyway.

After an update I now have a new tab on the side of my home page to see apps. Is there any way to get rid of it? Also, I'm a newbie too and don't know what rooting is.

    Welcome to the forums :D

I believe you're talking about multiwindow. If you hold the back button that tab will go away :)

Root put in its simplest terms is having administrator rights on the phone
