Root [Verizon] Wifi recovery on Samsung galaxy not working

So I rooted my s4 in order to get the wifi recovery passwords app and it just shows random letters and number its not even the real password

Is that a root only app or something? Sorry, not familiar with that.
Or is it something nefarious that sniffs out wifi passwords without others' knowledge?

No its not a wifi sniffer it's just a app that remembers known wifi passwords

And u can also do this without root but iv had the same results the passwords are all random letters and numbers

hmm, not sure but perhaps I can try it on my device and let you know if I run into the same issue.
Granted I don't have the same device, but my LG G3 is rooted.

That will take u to Google play it's the first app and this problem seems to only happen on the s4

ok...just so we're on the same page, THIS is the app? (that's the first one that came up for me)

And also, I think perhaps a move of this thread into the S4 forum may help so that others with your device can chime in? Would that be cool?

Also, I'll try that app and let ya know what happens...(at least with device)

Edit:
just tried it and at first it gave me a message, something to the effect of, "app will not work, maybe your device is not rooted". I cleared data/cache for the app and tried it again.
It worked and I can see the password for my home wifi.

So perhaps others with your device can try it and give feedback
