I believe it is connected with the "motoconnect" symbol that pops up on the computer when you plug the phone it. you can shut it off by clicking on that moto connect thing and one of the options is "do nothing"
I dont have my usb cable with me to get the exact options right now but its along the lines of what I'm calling it. I believe this started with the driver updates or 2.2

You turn it off in Motoconnect settings. (I'm pretty sure this was happening for some folks on 2.1 as well - I remember questions about plugging-in = verizon website launch.)
I'm not sure if it's motoconnect, because the launch webpage option was checked, but it never opened that webpage for me (after connecting in every mode).
Also, has anyone noticed that when connecting in PC mode, the icon for DX in My Computer is the "silver edition." Thought that was interesting.

I rarely plug in with the USB because the charging rate is soooooooooooooo sllllllllllllloooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww.
After the 2.2 update for the Incredible there was a cdrom.iso file (or similar - the wife has the phone now, I have a new X but haven't connected it by usb yet). It runs as if the computer thinks that you plugged in a USB cdrom drive. I haven't checked my X for it yet. Something like that might be the cause here.

You may not be sure if it is, but it is.
Period.
It's the motoconnect drivers that a lot of people install so that they can connect to the phone w/ ADB.

Yeah no doubt. Conspiracey theory? Hardly. It is their phone after all dude. If you had built that thing from recycled aluminum cans and old Texas Instrument calculators and when you went to plug it in that appeared, then you might have reason to raise an eye brow. But come on, that's a Motorola phone operating on the Verizon network... having an add pop up when you connect it to your computer has zero in common with say big brother parking a spy satelite directly over your house while video taping you masturbating. It's a meaningless add that is easy to turn off. Get over it.
Also, I too have not connected to my computer in ages ever since rooting and connecting to the computer via 'Wireless Tether'. For one, as mentioned above, charging that way takes forever, and it super heats the battery for some reason (mine anyway). With 'Wireless Tether' I plug it into the wall, connect my computer to the internet through my phone wirelessly, it never gets hot, and it stays at 100% charge at all times.
Oh, and the best thing of all.... I don't have those creepy Verizon adds pop up on me!!!

+1. plus, it's not even like they force it on you. they inform you of a service they provide, which is actually pretty cool, and useful to a lot of people that arent too technically inclined.
some people act like this is forced on them. i could see if you were forced to watch this every time you plugged your phone in, but it's easy to turn off for cryin' out loud. if it wasnt possible to turn it off, that would be one thing, but it's two clicks of the mouse.
That sort of info doesn't bother me and as rightly pointed out, it's a Motorola phone on a Verizon Wireless network.
What bugs me the most is giving me a phone with City ID in it and you can't get rid of it permanently. The thing is intrusive and annoying and when it pops up the only choices given are pay now or continue free trial which means you can start paying in 2 weeks.
You can only get it off your screen by backing out of it as there is no simple close option. I learned to delete it's data and that works for a whille but the process must be repeated regularly.
This is intrusive, is not Motorola or Verizon, and serves no real useful purpose.

My X never did this. Cant get it to do it either. What do I need to do to get it to work, I want to check it out.

I believe it only does this if you have the Motorola 4.7.1 drivers installed. Older drivers didn't pop up the spam page.
