Okay as of today I have had my phone for about three weeks....so it's past the best buy return policy...how convenient. Until recently the phone was great but now out of nowhere my keyboard just dissapears while typing and kicks me out of text or email app. I think it happens when I hit the space key. I have researched until Im blue in the face and Im thinking I'm the only owner of this phone that has had this problem. I was thinking it may a memory issue but the only memory being used is being used by default phone tasks....except for three but they use very little. I've done a hard reset and it still does it, I've even tried downloading other keyboards...ie, swiftkey and the google keyboard...Still nothing! It gets very tiresome typing and then about ten words into it to get to see your keyboard disapper and the app shut down...save as draft...really, come on. Any help in resloving this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have Jelly Bean or Ice Cream Sandwich? You could get a stock image of one of the two and try flashing it to correct your problems.

I am on 4.1.2. I will go ahead and flash my phone and locate the stock image, I will download and try that. Thanks.

Sorry, I meant root, not "flash".

You don't have to root it to flash a stock image.

Can I ask would the stock image he would use be dependent on whether the phone was located in the US, Asia or Europe and if it was from a particular network carrier whether locked or unlocked?

Also as the phone here is only 3 weeks old he can surely send it back to HTC, for them to sort it.

He needs the stock image for the region and carrier he's on. I'm on Boost Mobile in the Us so I would have to used the stock jelly bean image for Boost Mobile ...the radios are different in other countries so of you flash a Europe stock image in the Us it wouldn't work.

He could send it back but they are gonna do the same thing that you could do yourself without having to wait or void your warranty.

Thanks, thats what I thought. Is there a download source for all the correct images to flash for a non rooted phone if need be.

So for instance I have a UK version that is sim free and unlocked so there it is not associated to any carrier.

I was interested if you had an unlocked carrier free Asian model whether you could flash it with the carrier free Uk firmware. The Asian version supports 1800 & 2600Mhz LTE but misses the 800Mhz band which is used here on EU versions in addition to the other two.

You can flash the EU version on an Asia phone but I wouldn't because of the difference in radios

These are the differences in radios between the Asian and European models:

    2G Network
    GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
    3G Network

    HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100 (Europe)
    HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 (Asia)
    4G Network
    LTE 800 / 1800 / 2600 (Europe)
    LTE 1800 / 2600 (Asia)

What I was wondering are these difference in hardware or just software, such that if you were sent the Asian model and you were in Europe could you just flash the European RUU and then have the EU frequencies.

I'm not sure about the hardware, I just know most of the are the same specs as the American one and some are lte and some aren't.

You'd have to ask on xda.
