I have an htc desire but recently played with a friends new xperia Ray.

Was blown away by how fast it is. Butter smooth in all aspects and speed of internet was unbelievable on both 3g and wifi.

The keyboard in portrait mode is horrible as its laid out with old style text input due to its small size, however that's easily remedied by the fact SlideIT kb works :)

If you got small hands like me and like a small phone then it really is tops...

I got my Ray ST18a a week ago and really like it too. (AT&T) The size is just what I wanted (wife has a Neo). I am coming off a Sony C905a. Another big feature hardly anyone mentions is the attach point for a wrist strap! I hope Sony Ericsson never does away with that.

One gripe ... 2.3.4 did away with the CRT animation for the screen lock.

Also ... I find the stock browser not as smooth as the iPhone. So I tried Opera Mobile ... wow! what a difference in how smooth the scroll and zoom is. And you can organize your favorites into folders.

DLNA support is really nice ... it can serve photos and music to my DirecTV receiver which makes showing photos a lot easier.
