    Hello!
I saw this forum and the light bulb came on....USERS ARE SMARTER THAN THE COMPANIES!! They will know the answers that the "Pro's" do not!
I can't figure out how to get on the net! Here's my problem (2 years old now!) I have asked this question of Verizon, Tracfone and Rogers. So far, nobody can help me!!!
I spend summers at a cottage w/o hardwire phone. We use cell phones. They sometimes say

    Welcome to the Android Forums!

International data plans can get dicey... and quite expensive as I'm sure you know. On the older cell phones you could force them to go to a specific signal type. Not sure if this is possible with Android phones.

Well here's a thought though I don't know if this will work or not...

Maybe if you purchased a femptocell device that had an external antenna, you could place the antenna outside your summer home on a pole or high in a tree and get a signal from the U.S. side of the border. I'll be honest... this is a long shot but maybe it'll work if one of the femptocell manufacturers supports a directional antenna. The other thing that'll specifically need to be verified is that the femptocell is compatible with your wireless carrier...

This has merit, I'll check further. I haven't a cell agreement yet, but the siblings use verizon and AT&T, so it will probably need to support both of those carriers. Thank you for the lead!
