On my older smartphones I had, a Motorola Q and a Blackberry Storm, both of these would vibrate something like 3-4 seconds before the audible ringtone would start sounding. This allowed me to answer my phone, most of the time, before the audible ringtone would even sound, which comes in really handy if you are in locations and you do not want your ringtone sounding.

On my Motorola Droid I have noticed that the ringtone and vibrate start at the exact same time. This does not give you any time to answer it before the audible tone starts.

Is there a way to make the phone vibrate first before actually doing the audible ringing?

TIA!

I read about this work around somewhere else. Create a ringtone with 4-5 seconds of silence at the beginning before the actual ringtone begins. Set your ringer to vibrate AND ring and you should get the vibration for 4-5 seconds prior to sounding the ringtone.
