Help Vibrations

I have the samsung galaxy s. i manually updated my phone to the 2.2 froyo version, and now for some reason when i get a text message it doesnt vibrate when on the vibration setting, I've gone in the the text settings and it gives no option to check vibrations, please help i dont know what to do!
