all you need to do is install this... and google talk will be update with the video feature released in 2.3.4

this has been ported for 2.3.3

just make sure to keep the debugging mode checked before running this...

after installing run it... after it finishes... it will restart your phone and video will be enabled in google talk

then u can uninstall this app called video installer

have fun

I'm running 2.3.4 on Samsung Galaxy S and have only the audio option not video in google talk. I installed the .apk you posted but nothing has changed.......

Skype has video chat on android now. Updated today.

I hope this is true!! Will re-install and check later.

*UPDATE*

This is from the Skype page on the Android Market:

Two way video calling is supported on the following handsets: Google Nexus S, HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro.

So looks like we'll have to wait even longer for this :( #epicFAIL

wat??? why do SGS2 users have to wait?? isnt it the same software, using a mic and a frong facing camera found on the above-mentioned phones??????

but i dotn get it. doesnt the desire S and the SGS2 run the same OS version etc?

Me thinks it's to do with so many oem's bringing different overlays to android is the problem. Giogle should set standard like w7 ie hardware criteria & no overlay & no carriers input then maybe this os will gave a chance. W7 is looking the os of choice with mango update. I really want to like my sgs2 but thia ia getting frustrating grrrrrr.

This is the biggest frustration I have with Android, and it's not really Google/Android's fault. I could be wrong (and I'm an Android n00b so it's very likely!), but it seems to be the manufacturer's fault for putting their own UI over the top. If every manufacturer just made the phone and then they all universally used Android, surely we wouldn't still have this problem?

yeah its frustrating. im not sure whose fault it is, but after paying a lot of money for the 'best' smartphone (according to many folks) its frustrating to see phones like desire S and xperia getting stuff ahead.. i know the price has got nothing to do with it. lol. but its just annoying. i can understand the nexus S getting everything first (2.3.4 with google video talk, and now skype) but the rest just bugs me

EDIT: btw, my friend tested skype video on her desire S. her video appeared sideways. lol. is this a hardware or software issue, u think?

In the picture on the market it showed sideways video so it's probably functionality. Which is dumb if that's the case!

Come on Google, roll out Talk video chat FFS!

Fring video chat works pretty well for me, haven't yet tried QIK. Should probably get around to trying out Google Video Chat at some stage, since I'm Rooted and its available.
