Ok saw it, but Fuzzy told me not to download the AIO version, my phone is ZVD.
Use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en
Open app-choose "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery-choose LGE Esteem
You can also use that app to make your first backup as well :smokingsomb:
Should I do this before or after I root?
Recovery requires root(for this phone)-the app will not work for you if not rooted.
You can use the aio one but i prefer the other one.
It does really looks like a test to your patience:laugh:
hey my phone wont go into debugging..? says "you can not switch usb mode with factory cable" .. is there any way around that?
Are you in test mode? You have to fix test mode. You dont need debugging to fix test mode
oh ok, i gues i was looking at the service one, thnx
umm does the Home SID have have to have numbers, mine just says "true".. or the CDMA Home SID need numbers in it?
OMG My phone went to test mode just yesterday :bath:
Guess you get to test your patience
This save my phone, Thanks fuzzy now i just need to get my MIN from metro yayyyyyy!!!!!
By the way, for starters (noobs like me) make sure you really really do this and don't avoid, otherwise you will be getting an error when loading the last dll file
We are going to Install LGPNST which will be used in the 3rd step to restore your phone #, MIN and PRL. Which will activate your service and get it back working.
*WINDOWS 7 and Vista USERS*- Turn off UAC and notify "Never"
Glad you got it back working. Want to bad eh?
Wow, it was lengthy but I'm back in service. Great guide
First time this ever happened to me. Thanks fuzzy and all that helped figuring this out. Off to #2.2
Awesome glad your back up. It is lengthy that's for sure. But as long as you stay focused and follow directions well, it's really not that bad. I can do it in about 10 minutes not including reboot time and all that. Still dont know why this keeps happening. Seems to be random. IDK. I wish I did know.
yeah, it didnt take long now that I think about it, I guess it was just alot of steps. When I finished I was thinking how much faster I would be able to do it if this ever happens again. I was down since last night, I didnt realize it untill I tried to make a call. I thought flashing a rom would fix it, it didnt. Then I called metro pcs and when the lady told me to press pound, it would go to the lg hidden menu. I told her I will call back and did my own research and found out I was in the dreaded test mode. Had the same symptoms, data working, no sms, no cell and factory mode when the USB is plugged. I did have to call metro again so they can get me back on but I was back up after we programmed the phone. I wanted to updgrade to #2 2.2 anyway so I got it over with. Thanks again.
No problem at all. Yes it is a lot of steps and I hope adding the video made it easier for some cause I know that text can blur together after a while.
Glad your back up though and youll fly through it if it happens again. Hopefully it wont though
Hi, first I'd like to say thank you very much Fuzzy and Gbiggie for creating this guide and continuing to support this thread! I've followed the steps and have successfully removed Test mode with Test Mode Repair tool. I have the MDN and MIN for my phone.
I have successfully installed LGNPST and am using Store Level PST (LGNPST v1.2) supplied from this thread. I am stuck on System NAM 1 and have double-click to change MDN, MIN, MIN2, and Home SID and have successfully Write to 100% however on phone Settings > About Phone > Status, it shows UNKNOWN for the following: My phone number (MDN), MIN, PRL, and Mobile network type. It seems to write but nothing holds. I have also attempted to re-program using ##626* with MDN and MIN to no success.
Here's a screenshot of stock System NAM 1 upon entering (I've highlighted things different from your supplied image):
Here's my write to settings (highlight shows things I've manually entered):
My question is, am I supposed to change settings like MCC, MNC, ACCOLC, and so on to match yours? I was wondering about the proper MCC and MNC since I found links like:
- MCC-310, MNC-016, from 04/14/12: http://androidforums.com/4226637-post173.html
- Click on Android Manual Settings, MCC-310, MNC-16 from 2011(?): Mobile Carrier Settings for MetroPCS United States
Things I've noticed but weren't mentioned in this guide, the phone restarts during Nv Write, at approx. 4% everytime the phone restarts then jumps to 100% after phone starts up. Same as after Write PRL START, phone restarts and continue to progress to 100% while phone is still starting up. Also, if its of any help the phone is not currently connected to service, I've setup a temporary phone during this fix.
Well, I have not attempted any further settings because the phone isn't mine and I don't want to end up incredibly messing things up. Please advise if I have missed any steps. I notice there was another thread that said NV Write did not hold, was there any PMs exchanged for a resolution? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Im not sure why the settings aren't sticking. I've never seen everything wiped out. Try entering the same info that's missing from mine.
I've never seen it go that way either. BTW thanks for the detail in your post-refreshing
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Metro was telling me the only thing that could be done was to send in my phone and be without one for several days!!! This worked and I appreciate it SO much!!
Absolutely amazing community
No doubt.
Also glad it worked out for you.
Im glad it worked for you. Welcome to the forum.
Hope you stick around for a while.
im on my 3rd esteem and again back into test mode
im trying to follow the steps but when i try to open the "Test mode Fix- Zippyshare.com - Test Mode Fix.zip" file after DLing it, it crashes so I cannot proceed. Is there anywhere else to DL it? thank you
