I actually just wanted to check previous topic titles by faking a post here... oops :)
I was trying to find out the best Video player atm, seeing as it's been a while since I've tried video playback on my android, there must be some new and exciting apps out.

I'm looking for something lightweight but with MKV and DivX support.

I've been pretty impressed with RockPLayer Lite. I haven't tried any mkv files yet but it plays all of my .avi/divx files with no problem.

I'd also say RockPlayer. It also plays flv files you download from Youtube.

Thanks for the pointers, yet I stumbled across another player: Vital Player Neon.
Did some comparing and as for MKV playback quality at least, Vital proved to be a lot better for me.
Also, the free version comes without that "R" product branding through your video.

So to whom it may concern: I went with Vital Player Neon :)

I think a bunch of players can handle SD resolution videos in various codecs/containers. I'm testing different videos and among them a 1GB 720p H264 mkv video on Desire using various players. So far, RockPlayer is losing to Vital Player, Summer Player and QQplayer.

OK, I've tested bunch of all-around players to test their ability to play "difficult" HD 720p videos. The idea was to "stress" the players and see if they can offer first HW decoding and in case of need also smooth software decoding. I've looked also the fps and how watchable the videos are. Here are the winners as far as I'm concerned (in order of preference):

    1) MoboPlayer
    2) QQPlayer
    3) Summer Player
    4) VitalPlayer
    5) RockPlayer

    Excluded:
    * Vplayer, because it is not longer freeware,
    * ImPlayer, because it was force closing on the phone

Good looking out man, thanks! I feel stupid for settling for Vital so easily now, it had survived my mkv test flawlessly imo, but I didn't bother to check fps, let alone compare against all those others.

    Cheers!
