My moto g 3gen will play videos that I have recorded but when using my Chromecast a message appears saying 'sorry can't play this video'
Yet, older videos I have recorded will play to the chromecast fine, even stuff copied from and recorded on another phone.
I normally play stuff through Gallery and video player. I have tried some other apps but no result. VLC will sort of play it but breaks up (pixelated) terribly.
    What's going on!

If Chromecast is anything like my Roku,It will only play like...MPEG-4,AVI.,
This is because it uses its own player.
Now to VLC,Make adjustments in the VLC setting to fix the pixel issue.

Edit: Or are casting to Chromecast from your phone?,If so just make the adjustments to VLC player.

Thanks, all the files I am trying to play are mp4 - my new ones (last few days) won't go to Chromecast, older mp4's play fine. All play OK on phone.
I will try vlc again, what might I have to tweak to get it working OK with my Chromecast?
I just don't understand why I have to use vlc at all when it all used to work well!
