I bought a viewsonic G tablet and now I hear it has been recalled. I don't want to play games on it so I don't think I need ROM but how do I make it work better for me just using it for the real estate business.

Unfortunately I don't own a tablet so I can't assist you. However, I can move your thread to the G-Tablet section where I'm sure other users will have some advice!

    Welcome to AF! :)

No the gTablet has not been recalled. One of the Viewsonic firmware updates was recalled, which is no big deal.

You can see which firmware you have by going to "settings > about device" and see the firmware version.

Once you figure out which firmware version you have, if you want to put an aftermarket ROM on it, which I strongly recommend (I use Vegan 5.1.1), you can read the How to Root guide here to do it.

Just what kind of things you want to do with it in terms of real estate? (I'm not in the biz, just curious) I can tell you that you will probably want to flash it to a rom because in it's virgin state it is hard to download apps from Market (Sorry but that G-Market stinks). It also tends to run slow. Things will force-quit on you a lot in this state.

When I got my tab I managed to use it for two weeks in the original state before giving up. Oddly enough flashing isn't very hard (as long as you read the instructions). I'm running Vegan Tab 7 (Gingerbread edition). It's very responsive and I even put the Zillow app on for grins. GTabs do not have GPS in them however, the location via wifi is pretty darn accurate.
