So should compcache be on or off? There's a post on villain forum regarding slowness issues and one of the fixes is to disable compcache.

In the latest version compcache is disabled, which I suspect was causing a lot of people's performance issues.

Off, sorry that wasn't very clear was it. The lastest version is flying for me.

I've just (well last night anyway) updated to Villain 6.2 and its painfully slow - almost unusable.

I'm not overly keen on messing about with clock speeds on my phone, and I have rebooted quite a few times, but to no avail.

Can any of you guys shed any light on what you have done to make it usable?

If not, back to 5.3 or sensehero I go...

You'll need to mess with clock speeds because by default it's underclocked.

A setting of 352 min and 652 max works very nicely. It's also suggested to use Autokiller with the moderate preset. With these settings my phone is flying and battery life is still very good.

I've finally 'clocked my hero since it was really doing my head in, and I don't really want to stick a new ROM on since it seems there's a few folks working on GSM 2.1 versions.

It seems to be much faster now, apart from unlocking is quite unresponsive. The end button only works when it wants, and then the lockscreen is very slow.

As I've typed that, and checked, I'm met with FC after FC.
