The function for a factory reset (the screen you see trying to enter recovery) is in the bootloader, which is locked as you probably know already. What's happening is usually caused by a corrupt aboot or recovery image. Could have been from a bad downloadl (poor connection, interruptions) or the Compression Program you used to extract them on your PC (WinZip, WinRAR, etc.). Whatever the case try downloading again, using a wifi connection if possible with your phone or your PC. Use 7zip to extract the files and then use the 2nd method in the CWMT OP to copy the images to the proper folder with a Root File Manager. See if that fixes the problem.

I've tried installing it via USB with the install.bat file and nothing. I've tried manually copying the files and all I get is an error that they are write protected. The one you linked is the one I was following so those were the methods I was following and it's still not working for me.

I tried Volume Down + Power just now as well and it did nothing but go to a black screen with that method.

Did you grant your Root File Manager permission with SuperSU and Root File Managers usually have a setting to allow root explore? If it does make sure that is set to root or on as the case may be. If you answered yes to both then for some reason the /dev folder is r/o (it should be r/w after rooting). You will have to mount the folder as r/w manually. There are apps at the Playstore you can use if you're not familiar with the commands or using a terminal.

    Hello,
There's great info in this thread, but reading through it all can be overwhelming for those of us who aren't very familiar with all the terms. Xclusive36, any chance you could post a video of the process for updating a rooted LG F3? Seeing it done might be easier than reading it.

    Just a thought, and thanks

    John

I'm using ES File Manager and everything is set in SuperSU to autogrant Root from the start so that shouldn't be an issue.

I'll have to look around and find the terminal commands for that and see if it fixes the issue. Been awhile since I've messed with the terminal end.

Go to the Playstore and install "Remount" app. See if that works for you.

If you would, post future replies on the cwmt recovery thread. There is another member with the same problem already posting. Makes it a little easier to find a solution when we can all work together. Thanks :D

    Hi, folks.

Just in case no one is watching the regular F3 forum, I've got a problem with restore.

I installed a superSU binary update yesterday and the horrible thing rebooted my phone into a factory reset. I lost lots of stuff but I'm mostly sick because I lost the last voice message my mom left me before she got in the car accident and ended up in the hospital, where she passed away.

In any event, I've got a backup, but I can't get CWM to restore it. My thread is here: http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-f3/876171-cwm-restore-issue.html

Please take a look and give me some pointers, please.

Thanks for the PM. I did just what you suspected, and I sure wish I'd known that before proceeding. If it's already written up here, I never saw it.

I have posted a new thread in the Optimus F3 forum outlining what happened. so hopefully it will be linked with the FAQs or something so others looking for GOTCHAs can find it.

Thanks again. I'm still sick over losing that voice mail. What a moronic system. You'd think it would be designed to leave it on the server until your account is full or you delete it, rather than assuming that because you didn't save it, you want it deleted. Ugh.

I am trying to locate the .dll file needed to return my F3 to stock. I have the flash tool and I have the drivers, I just can't find the correct .dll file. All the links that I've came across are either moved or deleted. I know this is a longshot since your post is so old but any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
