    Hey all,

Question for you. I have rooted the phone, and removed a handful of the VM Bloatware. But thats as far as I have been brave enough to go. I would like to get rid of that annoying VM Loader Screen whenever I resent my bloody phone. 'Virgin Mobile! 'ding'" is incredibly annoying and starting to do my head in. Any suggestions on how to get rid of that, or if its possible without doing that Flashing, Romming, or other such things? Like I said, not very brave here, dont have 150$ to replace it if Murphy's Law takes effect. Thanks for the help in advance. Love the forums btw, great info :)

I'd read somewhere on here about an app called silent boot.

If I remember correctly, Quick Settings (available at the Market) has a pretty big sound settings list... one of the sound settings in there allows you to turn the volume for that all the way down.

Sorry that I don't remember which sound setting it is as I haven't used that app in quite some time. I normally do not reboot my phone unless absolutely necessary.

Is it possible to completely replace that horrid looking boot screen? That is ideal in my mind. Id like to replace that loading screen with maybe a custom image and even a sound file. Is this possible?

Yes it is very possible. But you do need to root first. All that VM boot animation stuff is in system files. If you do root, all the custom roms have that annoying, embarrassing s##t removed anyway. Plus as an added bonus feature all VM bloatware is deleted.

you can replace the virgim mobile image and replace it with a new one
you need use of the ADB or an App like Root Explorer

I don't know how to remove it, the ROM i ported removed it for me. But to install a custom image, download the file. Smaller files will runs smoother. And with Root Explorer rename it bootanimation.zip and move it to /system/media

I deleted the startup sound and replaced it with an mp3 of the same file name, so my phone now boots to Ash's "Well hello Mister Fancypants."

It is possible to change the boot animation as well, I just haven't yet. I usually do a quick boot with Link2SD and I never see it anyway.
