Alrighty folks... To everyone who has followed my development on the Venture, thank you so very much for all of your support, but i feel that it is time for me to move on from the Venture for the time being. I still will be keeping a close eye on this forum, and will still be providing support for all of my projects. I am always here to help with any questions, so feel free to PM me. I still kept my Ventures to able to provide better support to u guys, and for future development. I feel like i have come to a learning standstill with the Venture. I have moved on to an LG Optimus Elite, which has a lot more going on with it development-wise. My plans are to dive further into development with the Elite, and hopefully come back to at least get u guys a working port of CM7. Anyway, thanks again, all! Feel free to contact me for any reason!

I'll probably be in a similar condition soon.

I've been watching ebay/etc for a used LG Optimus Slider at a chump-change price, looking to move on from the Venture but keeping in mind my priorities: Keeping my grandfathered $25 plan, increased screen size, better keyboard (and for me a physical qwerty in landscape orientation is perfect), availability of extended battery, small physical size, low price so I don't worry when it gets crushed by my keys in my pocket while I'm laying under my car working with tools, and probably a couple other things.

I've learned to deal with slow CPU and limited storage, so it doesn't bother me that those issues won't be improved by the Optimus Slider. Tangent: I was thinking of maybe just mounting an EXT2/3/4 SD partition as /data instead of using link2sd and still dealing with /data getting small, and there has been discussion/development of that strategy before that I might be able to use.

Just yesterday I was looking at ROMs for it and thinking I'd ask you for help as I might end up making my own, inspired by the success I've enjoyed with your DRAndroid Lite.

Absolutely im cool to help! Yeah, enjoyingying the Elite. Getting used to the software keyboard is a bit difficult, but there is sooooo much development source out there for it! Its a treasure trove of learning info. :) plus, a beautiful surprise is that they are advertised as having the 800 mhz processor, but they come with the 1ghz. :) android 2.3.7, near feild communication, 5mp camera, etc..etc.. Definitely worth it at the 59.99 price tag! But ya, if u end up goin the route of a new phone, hit me up! Id b more than happy to port DRAndroid for u or help u make your own!

It blows the venture out of the water. It is gingerbread, but it is 2.3.7 instead of 2.3.5. Has a few more options, including NFC support. They also have ICS and CM9 ports tho, so ICS is an option too. Not to mention, it is overclockable to like 1.7ghz. Its a great deal for the price :)

It's a shame because i love the event lol. i only paid $50 for it so i'm not complaining. The event rise and hydro are basically all the same so hopefully someone will figure a way to unlock them lol

Yup, i noticed that too. Hopefully they get that bootloader, cuz i would love to pick up a Rise too. That slide out hardware keyboard would b a huge plus to me. I decided to go with the Elite tho cuz of all the development that has already been done on it. I basically bought it as a learning experience so i could learn from all of the source code, so i could come back and help out the Venture forum the best i can. I still love the venture, and will always keep one on hand, i just felt stuck on my learning curve with it. I needed something i could learn from already established source code.

LG Optimus Slider would have given you the learning experience (plenty of dev there, it seems) and the slide out hardware keyboard. ;) That and compatibility with my grandfathered plan is why I want one. You'd still be stuck with Venture-like specs, though. Is the Optimus Elite better-equipped?

Oh yes, much, much better. Although advertised as 800mhz, in reality they come clocked in at 1ghz, with kernels that allow overclocking to at least 1.6ghz. 2gb internal storage, 5mp camera, bigger screen, the list goes on... I am very happy with the purchase, just missin the convienience of the hardware kb for my everyday use. Not used to the software kb. That is my ONLY complaint with this phone whatsoever tho! Overall, very happy :) at 59.99, still double the price i paid for my ventures, but still worth it!
