download the app and see if it works, duh? ;) if u have a phone and have it activated it has a voicemail. hit the phone button, then in the lower left it should have an icon kinda like and old cassette tape. this will dial voicemail.

VV is an add on i believe and extra charge per month on your acct. you would have to call vzw cs at *611 to have them add it.

then you should be able to properly use the app

be forewarned this app will kill your battery...it is a known issue.

Verizon's Visual Voicemail is a "free app" - except that you have to pay VZW a monthly fee to use the service

That's probably why you can't get it working - your need to call VZW and add it to your Verizon account services. I think it is something like $2.95/month

When I got my Eris, the VZW store manager insisted that it was almost a "must have" app... he raved about it so much that I caved in and had them install it.

After using it for a while, my reaction to it is "Eh... take it or leave it.". It's probably more useful to someone who uses the phone in areas where the cell service is marginal, since it downloads the VM to the phone - you can listen to previously saved messages even if there is no cell service.

I have it on my phone, and have absolutely no reason to believe that the above statement is true.

I managed to get free VV with Verizon on my Eris through Google Voice. Google Voice is great, it even transcribes voicemails for you and you can read them through the (also free) app! :D

Skip the $2.99 Verizon service and get yourself a Google Voice number.
