so.. im looking to get navigon on my galaxys s but the only version i can find is the one for the tab. is there a version for the standard galaxy s phone?

if not what are the best available voice navigation apps?

    or

Failing all that, how do i get google to work like a step by step navigator?

    p.s. im in autralia.

Google Maps doesn't work on your phone? Any special reason you want to use Navigon instead of Google Maps? (I don't travel...so is Google Maps US-centric and doesn't work in Australia? Sorry if this is a stupid question.)

The voice navigation through google maps was not available in Australia. Google 'maps brut'. It's a version that installs beside your original google maps (not instead of) and will give you the voice navigation. Works pretty well.

Check if your original google maps has upgraded recently, to I think it's ver 4.7. I now have navigation with the original google maps app. Been released in australia recently. Also do a search in the market for Navigon (android market, not appbrain). I was able to download that although it says only for the galaxy tab and it works sweet. Full offline navigation like tomtom or garmin. But I think you need to be on 2.2 to use it. But it was free for me in australia.
