I was having issues with verbal notifications of EVERYTHING even when phone was on silent. Specifically, "message from 9016" (9016 being Boost Mobile)

I fortunately found the answer to turning off driving mode to stop the verbal notifications, but am still curious about the 9016 notifications, they were never there when I checked.

    Any ideas?:D

The way visual voicemail gets its notification of a new voice message is by a sms text from the carrier. They use the short code 9016. The Visual voicemail app intercepts that sms so it doesn't show up in your messaging app.
