Which do you use?
GV. It's free.
Google Voice = Free
GV of course. Free transcribed voicemails, free texts (now with the android app; notification!) there's no reason to use Verizon's stuff anymore..
how do you like gv?
I was using it on my bb storm and did not like it.
For what I use it for, I like it a lot. I first used it on an iPhone but since I'm using Android phones now, I like it a lot more since it's integrated into the phone. I may start giving out my Google Voice number more so I can use it for texting finally.
It was horrible on the storm. Google voice on android is excellent. Definitely give it another try.
I hate voicemail. I've tried 30 times to get Verizon to disable it on my account, but they wont.
That said, I really love the transcription service of GV. I get to read the text and see if the message seems important at all before spending the time to listen. Love that feature
I just started using Youmail this afternoon and I love it! Never calling that *86 lady again
Neither, I won't pay VZW for their service and I don't have a Google Voice account.
GV, free and better.
GV - have it set as one of my Friends and Family so I don't have to use minutes for any of my calls and don't have to pay for texting.
do you really have to give everybody ur new gv number to really be able to use it or does all calls registered under that number gets pushed to google voice?
You have to give them your GV number to get all of the features.
EDIT: Reread your post. I just use the Voicemail part and don't give out my GV number.
Yes, I do this.
Google Voice Blog: Google Voice with your existing number
It only works for Mobile phones. I used it on my work cell. I hated calling *86 and going through the prompts. Now, I get an email with the actual message and a SMS with the message translated. I don't think the translation is very good, but you can get the gist of the VM.
I wish it worked on all phones, I would love to get rid of my work landline VM.
cool...so u can keep ur same number then...same deal with the txt too they can txt ur actual number anditwill get pushed to ur gv number

It does not work that way with texts. If you want it for texting, you'll have to use your GV number.
