Help voicemail indicator won't go away

Things i have tried to fix the problem.

1. Having someone leave me a voicemail, and then checked and deleted it.

2. Turning off the phone.

3. Taking out the battery.

4. Pressed * instead of hanging up when I exit voicemail.

I am relatively sure I know what caused the problem, I just don't know how to fix it. I had a voicemail that I had not yet checked on my phone when I signed up for visual voicemail. I then looked at it on visual voicemail, decided I didn't need to listen to it, and then deleted it. Therefore, I have this "phantom" voicemail still there even though I deleted it. I tried uninstalling the visual voicemail and then reinstalling it, but I was unable to uninstall it...

I am at a loss here, and I know it's not a big deal but it aggravates the bejesus out of me for some reason. Any ideas?

Try to go to (from home screen) menu, settings, call, and hit Clear voicemail notification. That should do it.

I don't use VZW voicemail anymore, I use Gvoice.

However, I had the same before on my other smartphones. You have to call VZW and have tech support clear it. Sometimes the issue's on their end, fyi.
