I have a quick question regarding voicemail notification on the Eris. In an attempt to keep battery drainage low I often shut off the mobile network (leave only the voice network on). When I have a voicemail and the mobile network is ON, the visual voice mail app notifies me that I have a voicemail and I can go in and play it. If I dont want to use the visiual voicemail program (i.e. turn off the mobile network) is there any kind of notification that there is a voicemail in my box???

    yes.

BTW, Visual Voicemail is one of the biggest battery killers.

    What is the notification?

I sent myself a voicemail with the mobile network off and never received any kind of notification. Only that I had missed a call...

i don't notice any worse battery performance when using visual voice mail vs. not using it. of course i don't have the SMS bug so my awake time is usually around 7%
