    Hi there.

    I've had a good search around but not quite seen an answer to what I'm after.

    For no reason that I can fathom once or twice a day my phone goes from its normal volume to silent. I then cannot raise the volume at all using the rocker on the side. I need to turn it off and on again in order to get some volume back (hardly a speedy solution!).

    I presume that the fact that a restart fixes the issue (temporarily) means that it's not a hardware failure.

    Any thoughts? Much obliged.

    Strange. It could be a hardware fault. Here's how I'd diagnose;

    When the rocker stops working:

    1. can you still turn the media volume up and down if you play a mp3?

    and

    2. can you turn the ringer volume up and down in software using something like Sound Manager?

    1 No + 2 Yes suggests hardware fault.

    1 Yes + 2 No suggests software fault.

    You might want to try a hard reset before returning for repair. Remember to backup everything you can first.
