Wait, or buy now?

I am looking at getting a new cell phone, and have been wanting to get a new Android phone... However I keep wondering if I should get the HTC Eris now, or if I should wait until Q1 of next year when it sounds like there will be 2-3 more new Android phones.

I have also been hearing that most of the new phones that will be coming out will have the faster 1 Ghz processor, and running Android 2.0 OS. I know that the Eris will be getting an upgrade eventually, but there is no saying how the proc will handle 2.0 yet.

I know that the Motorola Droid has the newer OS, but personally I don't like the slide out keyboard, and don't think I need it.

I see that Sony, LG, and I am sure others will be bringing out new phones very soon for different carriers.

Overall... should I wait, or get something that in two months I may regret buying because of the new stuff that is out.

You can always keep waiting in the world of technology...

However, I'd rather have mine now, and upgrade in anothe year or two.

Well with regards to the Droid, I am really not that fond of the style and feel. I much prefer a smoother feel and look, like the Eris.

I think the one thing that keeps making me hesitate is that it wasn't designed around even 1.6 OS. That makes me wonder.

I have been into computer for so long I can't remember, and I agree that you can always wait for the next best thing. And there is always something new coming out that will be better. Normally there is a bit more then a 2 month gap between when a lesser product comes out, and a greater one is released.

Just go with the Eris I got it about a week ago and couldn't be happier that I picked that over the Droid.

Don't worry about the OS right now, it's a temporary release so that HTC could get the Eris on the market while they work out the overlay of Sense UI and 2.0.

If you wait and get what you really want, you will be happy that you did, versus pulling the trigger now and jumping on the Eris as I almost did after not being attracted to the droid at all.

Before you know it 2-4 weeks will be long gone and you will see the phone you want released.

I say wait!

Or you could wait forever and never see the phone you like. New tech is always coming out.

I love the Eris. I fooled around with a Moto Droid for a bit and I see no great advantage over the Eris. A bit faster, has LED flash, but that pull out keyboard is worthless. I knew the Eris had the older software but I also knew an update would be coming. I'm happy with my choice.

The deals this weekend are too good to wait. I just bought a droid for 119.99. If the passion/dragon/google phone comes out in three months I sell my droid for 450 and get whatever else there is.
