Dial *#*#4636#*#* go to phone info and scroll down to "set preferred network type" and choose LTE mode (w/voice)
Now enjoy the difference in call quality.
Sorry if it's been mentioned before but this really made my day!

Has anyone tried this yet and did it work?

I tried it, and didn't notice a difference, granted I think the other person's line was probably kind of garbled.

Would this be a problem though if you enter an area that isn't served by LTE? How would the phone know to step down to 3G if it's set to only look for 4G signals? Could be an issue if traveling or the LTE network is down.

I may be wrong about this of course.

I've been keeping mine on this setting thru the 4g switch widget.
granted I haven't left Atlanta since doing so, so I can't vouch for anything to work once you leave a 4g area........until this weekend I'm going to vegas and I'll check during the drive from there to the grand canyon.

Tried this and didn't notice any difference in call quality, but data virtually stopped when not in LTE area.

OK this is the thread I was looking for. Does anyone know what it was set to before it was changed?

I get no service when not in 4g lte. I need to go back to what it was. thanks!

No difference in voice quality for me.
