Though the battery status on my phone is shown in the form of the green bar on top of the screen, I want it to show in percentage like it is on 30% or is on 75% somehow I dont see it right now what do I do to enable it ?

Unless you're rooted I don't think its possible.

Those market apps are invariably widget type of apps and will not affect the stock battery indicator in any way.
Rooting and then theming is your only option i'm afraid.

I linked one will add a percentage number in the status bar, but won't change the actual stock icon.

As hawker said rooting is the only way to change the acutual icon.

I use Battery Circle. The closest notification icon I've seen to the Battery Circle mod I had on my rooted Desire.

if you want the stock battery icon in the notification bar to have a number on it you have to be rooted. There is no other way around it.

How to do this on a rooted phone?

I have Cyanogen Mod 7.1 nightly 116 installed.

It couldn't be easier to theme cm7. Just go to the market search cyanogenmod themes, find one you like then download and press apply.
