Help watch avi files from usb on aqcer tab

Novice on Android. Question. How do i play Avi movies from my fat32 thumb drive on acer a500 tab. Have Astro file manager. Nothing works. Any help will be great. (old and female)

Does it recognise the USB Drive at all? Also, if you've no 3rd Party media player installed, you might not be able to play them anyway dependant on what formats the media app that comes with the tablet can handle. Try Rockplayer, it plays most of the formats I've tested.

I'll also move this to the Acer A500 forums where users of the device may be able to offer a better solution.

Hi,

1a) Make sure you have installed a media player on your Acer A500
1b) Go to Android Market search and install a media Player if you have not

Notes:
For common formats AVI movie files install any media player MoboPlayer, VPlayer, QQPlayer or RockPlayer will work.
For MKV format install MoboPlayer and MoboPlayer codecs for MoboPlayer Codec for ARMV7VFP3
To watch MKV format movies - long press the MKV format movie and select software decoding.

2) Use Astro File Manager to navigate to your Fat32 Thumbdrive [hit the up button and select the last entry - if you can't find your thumb drive ]

3) click on the movie you wanna watch and Android will ask you which app to open the file with and you choose a media player.

4) enjoy your movie!!
