My Galaxy S6 got wet and not the multitask and volume down buttons are not working. Every time I turn the phone on it boots up in safe mode. Is there any way I can get the phone to boot up in its normal mode or possibly fix the buttons?
I expect that you boot into safe mode by pressing one of these buttons (probably one of the volume buttons) while booting. So if the button is shorted out it behaves as if you are always pressing it, and hence you always go into safe mode.
Repair is needed, and the warranty won't cover water damage.
The only way I've found to be sure my phone is dry after an 'excursion into the depths' is to dismantle it and dry it that way. No matter what you do to it without taking it apart you will leave a couple of drops of water internally which will eventually cause something to corrode and cause, at best, intermittant problems. Plenty of 'dismantle my S6' sites/videos on the web.
