Help .WAV Files on Android 2.2

Since updating my MotoDroid to Android 2.2, .wav files are no longer recognized by the built-in media player. Is this shortcoming being fixed by Android???

It used to work and I can't see downloading a separate app to play these files - they are typically voicemail attachments to emails.

I posted this (vm2wm link below) in a similar thread elsewhere here. Haven't tried it yet, so please report back if you do. Looks like it might work and not cost anything. Other responses in that thread suggested buying a app called Remote Wave.
