If you want to take a song, movie clip or any piece of aduio and convert it to a ringtone on your computer, you can use a program called total recorder. It records anything that goes through your sound card and it is pretty simple to use. It has a gain adjustment so you can make the ringtone louder or quieter.
Here is the best part, you can download the trial version for free, and the only limitation is you can only record 60 seconds of audio. But since I usually only record 30 seconds of audio for my ringtones, it works out great.
Then just transfer the file to your phone and set it as a ringtone.
