Tips WD Portable 500GB Hard Disk

    Just now purchased Western Digital Portable 500GB Hard Disk.
    Tried to connect it to S2.
    Some crap message: High power USB device connected.Unable to access this device...My 67$ loss! Boo Hoo hoo!

    Somebody help me...I just followed the youtube video where this guy mentioned we can connect any portable hard disk to s2!

    Please guys i m stucked!..help me!

    Not sure if you're talking about my video (its the USB OTG one with >250k views). I was quite clear that portable drives need an externally powered hub in order to connect, they require more power than the SGSII can supply.

    The SGS2 battery has enough trouble producing enough power to keep the phone going. You can't seriously expect a tiny battery like that to power a hard disk drive.

    I have tried hard disks with my SGS2 and they work perfectly, but they need an external power supply. Flash disks have much lower power requirements and they work fine.

    Yea you want to get an external drive that is powered separately, with it's own power supply, and just has a data connection to your phone.

    It'll cost like $10-15 to get an externally powered hub, I'd go for that rather than taking your life :)
