Congrats to the folks who wrote in to Engadget about their latest review on the Epic G4 and how they mentioned in the article a 'fix' that WORKED - according to Samsung.

That obviously turned out to be false. Last night a thread was quickly started on this topic about the article Engadget posted. Our fear was Samsung would take Engadgets article as a sign possibly this whole thing could blow over. But customers that own the Captivate and Vibrant knew this was not a fix at all, and confronted Engadget.

Well, here is the latest update that was put up ASAP on Engadget. Samsung Galaxy S GPS-gate: two problems, not one (and what to do about it) -- Engadget

See, when we band together and join forces, express our concerns, things happen. We need to stay on this, and keep pressure on Samsung. Although my GPS works, I know most peoples phones do not, and I am on their sides, continuing to put pressure on Samsung for a true fix....

I still find that there review and most out there were somewhat biased to personal opinion about the phone and its network. But oh well i love it and still think its one of the best android phones out there.

I agree. There is of course going to be some sort of bias when your kicked back products and or money for testing their devices and putting in a good word. Could be wrong about that, but that is why I think many bloggers/reviewers tend to speak highly of the iphone 4 (for example), and are cautious in how they describe its flaws. Thoughts?

OP, this is at least a third time I am reading about this engadget "news". I open a new thread every time thinking it is something new. For G-d's sake please use forum search people!

Actually that was about Engadget's original post. Not on the follow up. Different article.

I just did a search for "gps gate" and found a bunch of threads with posts that link to that engadget article made before this thread started.

Not trying to be rude, but I am already having enough fun with those daily "This gps fix works!" threads.

I am also upset that I missed my return period by one day.

If Samsung acknowledges in September that the issue is hardware related and the GPS functionality can only be "improved" somewhat by tweaking the software, I will go berserk people. I will smash my Samsung TV with a sledge hummer and will do the "will it blend" test on my phone.

My post was really geared towards encouraging people in the Captivate forum to continue pushing Samsung and bloggers like Engadget. If one thread was only made and found by a search, most people would not find it, because quite a lot of people do not use the search tool. Also, my post was for folks to see the fruits of their labor in action. It wasn't meant to initially be a copy-cat post, but a means of trying to continue to bring people together. Yeah, I agree it can be annoying, but it needs to serve as a reminder for everyone not to back down until they do send a fix, in September. Hopefully...

Maybe we could merge all the GPS related issues/news into one thread? Clean up house a bit.

Yes we did it, all last night, engadget and chris heard our voices, and quickly posted a revision to their statements on the front of engadget.com!

shows, there is power in numbers!

If anyone is curious what we are talking about, the full coverage of last nights details are in the thread that says "outrage, slap in the face"
