My friends Droid with 2.2 displays a weird notification window whenever she gets text messages. When she gets a text, the notification window comes up with the message, the background picture is a nicely rendered white Android holding a phone up to his "ear". Across the top, it says something along the lines of "leslie2099 is 0.7 miles away. Chat Now!".

I'm an HTC Hero user with Cyanogenmod 6, so I am reasonably familiar with Froyo, but I can't figure out what this is from. Any ideas?

doesn't seem like an "Ad" - is that part of Latitude and is she logged in and part of Lattitude?

Not as far as she knows, and she doesn't have any users or friends with a tag that says leslie0299, the reason it sounds like an ad is because it says "Chat Now!" at the end. Of course, i myself don't use lattitude so I am not sure what that would look like.

maybe someone used her phone (as a gag or joke) to send a text to one of those weird services - e.g. 888love - and signed her up for some chat service.

That could be a possibility, any ideas about the background picture? Its a 3d picture of a white Android with a cellphone in its right arm. Is this a standard background picture for Droid 2.2 devices?

no.. he meant if she was "rooted", she could take a screenshot and post it.

or, you could use a camera and take a photo and post that since she is not rooted
