I'm planning on picking up the Moment sometime tomorrow(since according to Best Buy it's still $99 with the 2 year contract) and ditching my old phone service for Sprint. I've been reading here(almost as an obsession) for a few days now while I decided between iPhone/Droid/Moment or Hero. Needless to say I've chosen the Moment(maybe Hero, that remains to be seen) and I wanted to ask a few questions. Coming from practically no knowledge of any kind of android phone or smart phone in general, is it wise to update(?) the phone by rooting and replacing kernels or whatever it is that was done to the phone recently? Forgive the ignorance, I just don't really understand what's going on but from what I can tell it's all positive right? Will this allow me to update the Moment to Android 2.0 or 2.1 before Samsung/Sprint release the update or is it even necessary. I'm getting this phone in preparation for a project I'm going to be undertaking in school and it'll be much easier to hopefully communicate with others involved. I also wanted to know, I've noticed on the last two Samsung phones I've gotten that the ring tones don't seem to play longer than 15 seconds. I'm hoping this isn't the case on the Moment. Sometimes I like to sleep and/or listen to my ring tone before I answer. Thank you for your time. EDIT: Oh and does anyone know about any other deals besides the $99 one?
