what about converting avi to run on droid eris?

over the years I have converted children movie dvd's that I have purchased to avi's so that I could put alot of them on my kids (non-dvd player) laptop for long car trips. I would like to re-convert those avi files to play on my droid eris so that I can hand the phone to my kids to watch a movie when we drive long distinces. is there a specific screen pixel size, special format, max bitrate, droid app, etc..

download vidora for the iphone. it says it's just for the iphone but if you choose the iphone any model as default and convert the avi to mp4 at 700 bps it works fine for any android phone.
