Thinking of putting my iPhone 3Gs on Craigslist and getting an Android. Not because I dislike Apple, but after 3 1/2 years of iOS I'd like to try something different.

I hate signing into contracts and usually buy the phone outright, then re-sell it when I want to upgrade. So I'm wondering which Android phones hold their value best?

    Thank you.

hi there, in my opinion, the HTC phones like the Desire series tend to hold their value quite well.

It's not always based on how great a phone is strange enough. For instance just a couple of weeks ago some Eris users were on here reporting that Verizon was paying like $134 dollars for old Eris's while they were only paying around $85 for used DX's (a far superior device). I guess HTC is really low on Eris inventory to support all those Eris owners who may file an insurance claim for a replacement or something.

Now those prices don't reflect what people might be selling their devices for on ebay. And as far as that goes, I really have no clue what holds up thr best?

The more popular devices hold their value better. For example... for Verizon, it would be the Droid X, Droid Incredible, and Samsung Fascinate.

The Nexus "series" (I say that in quotes because there are only two Nexus devices out) hold their value really well. The Nexus One which is like a year old still sells for around $300ish on ebay.

The Evo is still hard to score a deal on even used.
