What are the perfect camera settings, because my pictures seems to always suck...? Or is there a better camera app in the market that provides more? I have snap photo and camera pro from back in my G1 days but they seem worse? Any ideas or preferable settings on stock camera?

In what way do your pictures suck? Too light, dark, not enough contrast, etc... The biggest problem if you're trying to get really good pictures is that no matter what the megapixel count is, you're still working with a dinky lens. There's only so much you can do with it. I only use the Slide's camera for casual snapshots; if I want a quality image I use my DSLR.

My pics seem to come out real grainy and smudge lookin... I was looking through tmo forums and have read about a few things to change in the settings that'll help and so far so ok... I really don't understand what it all means so I ain't gonna worry bout it too much just would like to have it take clear photos when needed...

I too would like to know of any settings that could improve picture quality. I remember Eugene saying that after some adjustments, the slide takes pics that are just as good as on the behold 2. What I've seen so far with the default settings, the pics taken so far are not nearly as good as on the behold 2.

Hate to say it but going by the majority of users including myself Eugene MAY be wrong this time IMHO. I have played with the camera extensively and it cannot match the b2 in MY experience. the vast majority of users discussing the camera, report lower quality photos as well, when compared to other 5 megapixle camera phones. The pics are decent enough for me, not grainy or blurry, but the flash washes everything out and it doesn't seem to capture colors as well as others. Also it does require a steadier hand than the b2 but not too hard to take pics without motion blur.

    Eugene possibly being wrong?

That is like saying lindsey lohan could possibly be innocent.

Those statements are just not true! It just cannot be. My whole world will disassemble before my very eyes :(

Lmao! I know it's blasphemy, right? But I was clear, I said he "may" be wrong and in "my experience"...it's the most diplomatic you'll ever see me :D

I have used every setting combination possible and the camera sucks.

The 2mp camera on the Helio Hero I had 5 years ago took better (albeit smaller) pictures than the Slide.

I am hoping they improve it an update. Probably wishful thinking though.

I agree that the phone's camera doesn't take stunning pictures, but I think it does pretty good for what it is:

Comparing the above photos, it definitely looks like the camera does a lousy job at higher ISOs. I'm not sure if that has more to do with the sensor or the amplifier, but software can only reduce the effect at best. Post-processing with software like Noise Ninja will help, but that's not free. Mostly it's the camera's firmware that can make the biggest difference in reducing this noise. This is the biggest problem with tiny sensors, especially ones that try to cram a lot of pixels into that tiny area. The signal to noise ratio at higher ISOs gets pretty bad...

Try to limit your pictures to bright environments to get the best results.

Ya I noticed stock settings work pretty decent for outside sunny pics inside light, fluorescent, incandescent, etc. need a lot more tinkering with the settings not to convenient when trying to take casual spur of the moment shots (indoors). Also the flash does seem to over power and white out a lot of the color, I found raising the saturation kind of helps with that instance?
At any rate I still love my mts and am over my brief bout of vibrant fever "now if only I could get off the mts HD train"

This may sound stupid, but do you clean the lens before taking pictures? Mine gets greasy all the time. If i dont wipe it everything gets that halo/starry effect.

Since the lens cover is flush with the back of the phone it gets dirty easily. It also cleans off easily.

This scene looks like a VERY nice pic to me!:) I wouldn't know it was taken with a cell phone had it not been for this post. I realy like how my pictures come out on this phone. I always liked how my Bold 9700 takes pictures, but I think I like the Slide's Quality just a little better.

If the camera doesnt focus well, it's a warranty issue, just had mine replaced

Actually there were 3 things. I could set songs as notifications and silence them with the volume bar instead of pulling it out, unlocking it and pulling down the notification bar.
