What Data Is Stored On "Internal Phone Storage"?

Hi!

I am a new DInc owner, and I really like the phone. I have a question, however. What data is stored on "Internal Phone Storage", and how do you access it? I currently have 6.46GB Total Space with 6.43GB Available. I see my SD Card and Phone Memory, but can't seem to access the Internal Phone Storage?

Can someone explain to me the 3 different storage areas on the phone?

Thanks!

The 6.6 is for music, photos, documents, etc. which you can access with a file manager from the market or when the phone is mounted to your computer. Then there is a 748mb for apps which can't be accessed through normal methods.

How do you access the internal memory using a file manager? I use ES File Manager and can't seem to locate the internal memory.

To get to the internal memory, I had to use Super Manager and enable the root function of Super Manager (obviously your phone needs to be rooted for this to work). All the other file manager apps I tried didn't allow me to see that internal storage area. I imagine Root Explorer will allow you to see this stuff as well, but i'm cheap and was looking for a free app.

If you go to the root (uppermost folder) of your phone, the internal storage is the "emmc" folder. And within that folder you will see a dcim folder that is where your pictures from the camera are saved if you don't have them saving to the sd card.

You do not need to be rooted to access it. Or if you mount your phone to a computer you can see the storage.

Here is the rub about using emmc (internal storage)...

You can set the camera to store photo's and video's there. You can manually copy music there. But not every app that deals with those types of files will find it. There are several Music apps that will handle it correctly, like Mixzing and the Stock player. But not all do. Same thing with photos... for example, Photoshop Express wouldn't see any photos on internal storage, and none of the UPnP apps I tried would either.

So... the moral of the story is... If you use internal storage, make sure the apps you want to use with those type files can actually access it. The situation is frustrating... but getting better.
