- Apple's WWDC conference is from June 7 - 11
- Sprint waits for the hype from the event to go down
- Sprint releases the Evo on June 21
- June 21 is the first day of summer, which goes along with Sprint saying the Evo will be released in the summer.

If you couldn't tell, I chose "None of the Above"

I went with 22/23. It's for fun, so I just wanted to put a vote in before next Wed when we'll probably hear something more on a release date (hopefully). Plus, I like the Nascar reason. All-Star race on the 22nd, Sponsored by Sprint, in Charlotte, which is a 4G city. Live streaming in HD or something? Seems like it would be perfect to have the Evo out by then.

Like many said, either way, I'm getting an Evo. I just hope the timing is right for those who aren't already on Sprint to get won over. Sprint has been riding the Evo wave for a while now, hoping it would last until the release. Since then Verizon announced and released the Incredible, there's LG Ally news, the iPhone 3GsHD "leak", all while Sprint sits quiet with a little peep of Nexus One that came and went. I hope they do something big soon. Go Sprint! We're still cheering for ya!

I picked May 22/23 because I'm hoping Sprint feels the urgency to get the phone out as early as possible. The original post has good reasons. I think Sprint and HTC would benefit immensely by having as much time to sell this prior to iPhone release as possible. No phone has really come out as an iPhone killer, and I doubt any will since the Fruit company has its devotees. That said, the leaked prototype that's thought to be close to if not the actual release version is really ugly. No better time to beat them on the sleek factor than now.

The weeks after all pose a particular problem that is probably going to be greater than releasing the same date as the BB. I don't think BB users are going to switch from BB at nearly the % that iPhone users will because BB is available on so many carriers. There are a ton of iPhone users and avoiders just waiting for this phone because an iPhone on ATT or VZW still will not offer the features and value Sprint/Evo can.

It's not 100% critical that NY & LA be Wimax-live because that hasn't been promised. Of course, it will impact sales but probably only in a small way since no other carrier will have 4G any time soon.

I don't think Sprint can expect the Evo to sit in warehouses too long and too quietly without additional leaks about it so I think an early release makes sense.

Most interestingly, I think breaking from past practice and releasing earlier than expected would be a sign of real change and indicate a real imprint from Hesse and Sprint. It would deal a blow to VZW and ATT that they didn't think possible.

I'm planning on switching from ATT as soon as this phone comes out. Just wish the Moment 2 was already out because my wife wants an android phone with a physical qwerty keyboard.

Ok, not claiming any expert or special info, but I was sad at news i heard today (only cuz I want a new evo asap).

As I have mentioned I am working to sell Sprint products with a nationwide reseller. Info out this week says preorders to start in next few days and delivery of phones June 13th? It matches up with the dates we have heard of course.

On the bright side it doesnt mean that other companies couldnt sell them earlier, And it is still just over a month from now, but I can only hope it happens sooner.

My problem is this, If I sell it to myself I might have to wait longer if Best buy or someone offers it earlier. A few days may kill me if I know you all are playing with yours, and I am waiting.

I will update you as soon as I can take preorders and if I can help any of you get it id be glad to.

I know in the past, sprint has not allowed people who sell the phones buy them at launch (b/c they say they want the public to get the phones first and not have the employees eat up all the inventory). this was true last year for the palm pre launch, an employee of a reseller could buy the phone (at FULL price), BUT they could not activate it on the employee discount account untill a few moths later. Just a little FYI that you might want to check into (i know the guy i am friends w/ at best buy was upset at this last year b/c he wanted to get a pre on launch day but couldn't, thats how i know about this)

Covert - i'm with you though being a little less vocal about it. The way I see it, if others wish to believe blindly, let 'em... You & I have some salt. But I'm a proponent of hoping for the best but expecting & planning for the worst.

On the flip side, June 6th IS in line with most of everything else we've been hearing, so is it really that improbable?

I can understand the skepticism, but it would be a cruel, cruel joke if she posted in the thread just to mess with our heads. I know there's more than one Sprint employee following the forum, so I can't help but feel she was sent here. That's my opinion.

Bill, you're a guide. There are other mods monitoring that thread. I don't understand why you guys can't privately PM with her to verify her story. If the mods and guides back an "insider," it's less likely for that person to get any bashing.

That's just my .02 cents, but I know that's what I'd do if I were a mod.

In my honest opinion, I think anything that gets added to the official post should come from a Sprint media event or public announcement.

Now hear me out I'm not saying she's spreading invalid information, but adding dates and information that could POTENCIALLY be different than what we find out in a week's time could start a catastrophic flame fest.

Good point, Drex.

Out of curiosity, any FCC approval on this phone that can be verified? It would certainly help to know whether May 22/23's even possible because Evo probably would have to be FCC-approved by now.

I really want the most-likely dates of 6/6 or 6/13 to be reflective of worst-case scenario, but I just don't know. Seems like the units wouldn't be shipped to warehouses now if it wasn't FCC-approved though.

I don't expect there to be much of a lag between specialists being chosen and trained and actual selling because there's going to be no way to keep information from leaking out at that point. I can't see a full week lag so with the 17th being a Monday, I'm still pinning my hopes on 22/23.
