Aside a faster processor and larger screen, is there anything I would really gain by swiching to the X? I already rooted my DI so I have wireless tether (for free), and am having a difficult time coming up with a reason to switch aside from the X being the latest and greatest.

I'll add a couple things. Better call quality; a more sturdy feeling phone, a proper battery door. The longer battery life is a big bonus too.

I returned my Inc primarily because of terrible battery life and some dropped calls/lousy call quality. I was charging my battery about every 3-4 hours with reasonable use. I loved it otherwise, though, and if those issues could have been fixed I would have stayed with it. The bright images/AMOLED display were just so pretty, and it felt plenty hefty to me. For the last week I've had to suffer with an oooold Samsung Alias and can't wait to get my hands on the X. Tried the X at a VZW store and thought the resolution on the smaller type wasn't so good (couldn't read it) compared to the Inc (on which I could read even the tiny font). Overall I thought the X was perfect for me, though - I like the bigger screen size. FWIW I'm about the only one on this forum who thought the X actually felt lighter than the Inc -- maybe I had a particularly dense Inc, lol.

I had named my Inc "Earl" and I'll name my X the same. Just about everything I own, other than my dogs, is named "Earl".

For me a big pull is the car dock for the X, the Inc's is just a holder where the X is a true dock and puts it in car mode.

The bigger screen is a big plus, much easier to see things and much easier to type on.

I mean your buying a phone. had to get rid of the inc cuz the call quality was straight cheeks. Unfortunately i upgraded to a droid before and returned it so i couldnt return the inc to wait for the droid X so now i'm in for full retail. But yea.. BETTER CALL QUALITY and better batterylife

A lot of people have said that the Incredible has Gorilla Glass, but that is a different story.

I like my Inc, but the call quality has been average rather than stellar. I like the noise-canceling mic on the X and the better phone aspect. Even if the X doesn't live up to my expectations in the phone department, I can't see it being any worse. The X is surprisingly slim and lighter than I expected, having had the chance to play around with it for a bit yesterday. Its initial build quality feels a bit better than the Incredible's, but of course, how it holds up over the long-run is more important, and the Inc is hardly a poorly built device by any means, even if the battery cover is a tad creaky.

I will probably miss the vibrant color of the Inc's AMOLED and higher contrast. I checked the green "magic smoke" wallpaper on both phones next to each other and it was like night and day, but I also realized the Inc really over-saturates things, and the LCD of the X, though a little more washed-out, was still very good, very sharp, had great white balance, and most importantly, that extra screen size was significant. Also, your eyes quickly get used to your device's screen... if I'd never owned the Incredible, I doubt I'd have been too aware of the difference.

I'm upgrading simply because I'm within my first 30 days and may as well obtain the best phone I can. Rumors of the X had surfaced when I got my Inc, but hadn't been confirmed. I don't think the X is a significant step-up and I'd be perfectly happy with the Inc if I was not eligible to replace/upgrade it, but it just offers a few extra features (bigger display, better battery life, (potentially) better call quality/signal, more storage) which make the mere $35 restocking fee for taking back the Inc a no-brainer.

I will miss some Sense widgets, I particularly like the Agenda full-screen calendar widget for example, but Pure Calendar is a great replacement, and one of the things I really like about Android is the Market is full of awesome alternatives for pretty much everything -- something my old iPhone could never match!

The Droid X Motorola widgets seemed pretty plain and uninspiring, but I'll just have to go shopping more, and its interface in general is about as stripped down as you can get without going vanilla Android, especially compared to Sense. As I mentioned, I like some of the Sense widgets for sure, but wished they'd just stuck more to 'skins' for stock Android apps rather than re-jigging the basic apps so much... but that's probably just me. The pinch-zoom home screen thing is nice, and I'll miss that a bit, but swiping with the X was fast, the red shortcut 'dots' at the bottom were useful, and there's always LauncherPRO of course!

the droid incredible's life is trash. That is a great issue with a mobile device. X.

some say the drinc screen is amazing, i think they just made it more vivid/a little brighter....that really is all that comes to mind. Im not really impressed, and i have a 1080/24p panel 17 times the incs screen size at home.... to each their own.

sense is sexy, blah blahbitty blah. motoblur looks dull and dead in comparison.

But incredible owners can root and upload custom roms while you probably won't be able to with the X.

Thats the only thing that would make me want to buy an incredible over the X

    Sent from my Droid

You fanboys & girls are funny :)

    1. Inc screen looks better than the X and even in the area that the old Droid was better than the Inc- Text quality. X gots' jaggies. I could care less about direct sunlight issue.

    2. Sound quality from the 3.5mm jack has weak volume and lack of depth- just like the Droid.

    3. How can a big device like this not find a design to NOT stick the microsd behind the battery? Inc and Galaxy are smaller and do not.

    4. 720p out sucks almost as bad as on Snapdragon. You folks hungry for true 720p with good bit and frame rates will need to wait for the dual cores.

    5. All 8gb that is built in is for apps only. None was allocated for media storage.... Actually, better to have too much app space than not enough :) Plenty of app storage and no need to worry about apps2sd conversion is a good thing.

Even though I have "destroyed" the fanboys with my stunning and brutal points ;) , the fact is if the Inc's muddy sound quality is not fixed with the nearing OTA, I give the win to the X by default anyways.

Inc sound quality for calls is okay to poor and the Inc fanboys are in denial about it.

    1 over-saturation ftw? fail.
2 were the sound equalizer settings customized on the x? probably not
3 how can a High Tech Computer have such low quality parts?
4 it is not meant to be comparable to a standalone, NO. The X is better than the incredible in this regard, though.
5 does anyone use over 3 gigs of apps? its a definite bonus though.

    ?!>!?! w.e

call quality is important. It is a multifunction device, with a phone as the main function, after all.

These kinds of threads should come with a warning . Some individuals cant handle a conversation such as this and get offended rather easily.

Well since you are rooted stick with the DInc. It would be hard to go back from free tethering to never being able to tether for 2 years.

True, but the official Froyo update is expected much sooner for X (August) than the Inc ("end of year").

other than the bigger screen and that other obvious features, i'm getting the motorola droid x because of the quality and material used by motorola. motorola has never disappointed me with their products..

X's small text "jaggies" are supposedly fixed in pre-release OTA patch just out.

And the sunlight issue is huge for anyone planning to use Google Nav. If the X is a good as the EVO outdoor, it will kick butt over any Gamin/TomTom.

Many apps can't take advantage of the Inc's internal storage (I guess that will change over time).
