I know it has been a while (2.1) since we have had this feature but what ever happened to being able to use the volume rocker to switch between ring, vibrate, and silent mode? There is no advantange to them taking this out in 2.2 and I don't understand why developers haven't added this feature in their ROMS....am I the only one that misses this feature? Sometimes I want to be in vibrate and sometimes I don't want it to be completely silent...why do I have to pick one of the two?? Anyone else bothered by this?

this was an old beef we all had with FroYo (Android 2.2+). Rooted phones can get it back via custom ROMs, but other than that, you're stuck with it.

Believe me, I was one of the biggest gripers at this feature removal.

    Good to know, thanks!

I will probably be giving my phone to my dad when I upgrade, and I'll probably get that app on there for him....

I use the free app Quick Profiles (I have no connection to whomever makes it) and it gives you the ability to assign silent vs. vibrate (vs. lots of volume options) in your profile. It was a happy day when I found that.

    Hi,

I have found an app that cover 100% of my problem, quickly mute my phone directly from the lockscreen! (no root needed) :)

Check! Silent mode switcher from the Android market
