Help What has gone wrong?

Hi, new to the forum!

I have an Xperia Ray. It doesn't turn on, and also doesn't charge. LED around the home button flashes red a couple of times when charging then nothing. It's either bricked (which I would need assistance with) or something is wrong with the battery. On the latter, I've read about low voltage ratings if the battery is allowed to die, making the phone unable to turn on.

Any ideas?
