I recently started using the lock screen on my phone, and I really don't like that there is no way to get into user info or the contact info without unlocking the phone. This means that if I lose my phone, if someone finds it they have no way to contact me and if I get in an accident they have no way getting a contact number. Seems to me there should be a way to get to a screen that shows that info.

I'm not sure what I expect anyone to do about it. I'm just sayin'.......

The epic debate between convenience and security.

But is possible if someone finds your phone to give the carrier a call and have them contact you(by mail or alternate numbers you've provided them) by giving your phone's serial number.

you could get something like WidgetLocker that lets you customize your lock screen and put a way to get into your contact information that way like putting the ICE widget on your lockscreen, or with some custom contact widgets you can just put one or two contacts on the lockscreen.

If there's no stock solution there's almost always an app solution

Newer htc sense phones if you lose it you can lock it from htcsense.com and put a button on the screen to "call owner" at an alternate #.

ES Security Manager allows you to remote lock your device by the web or SMS. Once locked, it will display a message of your choosing.

    As does Lookout I think.
