What if the worst happened?

With a grain of salt, what would everyone here do if Android wasn't around tomorrow? Android is on an insane momentum and of course, everybody wants a piece of the pie. There have been a good half dozen or more lawsuits targeted at Android itself or members of the OHA. The Oracle vs. Google is likely the most potentially devastating.

While it's more than likely Android will survive, however not without hardship and payouts. What would you do if we lost them? Personally, I think I might hang around thanks to the XDA community coming up with new builds everyday (myself doing a bit of customization), but would you trade up to a new OS?

I would pick a company that is similar in philosophy of the open standards like android is. Android isn't perfect in terms of how open it is, but it is the best system out there in terms of open and choice. So basically I would choose the one that lets me, the consumer be the most free.

Thats a good question. First, I dont chase phones so it would have to be on my carrier. Carrier comes first, phone 2nd.

WebOS looks nice. If that was on nice hardware I would probably go with that. WebOS and Symbian would be my choices. WP7.....if I can get rid of the hubs and have mutiple homescreens I could give them a shot. I didnt vote cuz this is a good question...lol My choice would be either stick with XDA or wait til my phone died.

i would stick with android for as long as possible, and when it finally died out, i would probably break down and get a jailbroken iphone

I would stick with the XDA Community, but I don't think Android will die soon.

I'd use my Droid X till it died... then revert to my Win Mo 6 phone (samsung Omnia) and would continue to use it till I find a suitable replacement phone or the Omnia dies.

I would go to WP7. I love the look of that interface, and in a couple cycles it will be a very competitive OS I think.

Back to an old dumbphone. Even dumbphones can receive email and surf the Web nowadays. I'd miss YouTube though.

I will probably go over to Apple. I actually have no problem with iPhones, apart from the fact that they are slightly overpriced. It's a decent piece of hardware.

I agree with this. The iPhone is quite a nice device, I just don't have/like AT&T.

I'd wait until my phone died and then I'd probably go over to the iPhone.

I wouldn't switch carriers though. I'd just unlocked the iPhone and use it on T-Mobile's network. I've done that before and it's not that bad.

id probably go back to my touch pro 2 once my phone died, or id go ebay hunting for good condition droids . customization is one of the most important features of a phone for me, and I feel winmo before WP7, and android offer the most customization.
