under Settings -> Power there's a "fast boot" option. "Not recommended with some Market apps". Can anyone explain what this is and how it affects apps or phone performance? Should I tick the box or not? Thanks!

My understanding of it from when I had my EVO, was that it is sort of like hibernate in windows. It doesn't really shut all the way down when you turn it off, so it boots faster. changing batteries or turning off fastboot reboots it

Yeah, that's how I understand it. I personally never saw a benefit and left it off.

Its more important for the root community than it is normal users.

If fast boot is on the phone isn't actually all the way shut down
