I know, I know. ATT is subpar when compared to the others. But what if your stuck with it?

What Android phone would you buy from ATT if you had to?

Yes, there are very epic phones coming out within the year. But I don't wanna wait too long for a phone to be released, 1 month maximum.

Currently have my eyes on: Moto Atrix(Though reviews seemed to me very mixed, either they love it or they despise it).

    Give me your opinion!

Atrix has the specs. Inspire 4G has the larger screen, Sense UI, and larger current development community for those who like custom ROMS. IMO, those are the only two phones on AT&T currently worth looking at.

The only thing that bugs me about the Inspire is the pixel density. Other than that, very solid phone.

As of now, I'm going to take the risk and get the Atrix. I just hope it isn't defective, like some.

Anytime you increase the size of the screen without increasing resolution, you decrease pixel density. The Inspire has a higher pixel density than a 46" 1080P HDTV.

For instance, my Droid Incredible has a 3.7" screen at 800x480 resolution. The Inspire is the same res at 4.3". My TV is 1920x1080 at 46". Their PPI is as follows:

    Atrix: 275.36
    Incredible: 252.15
    Inspire: 216.97
    Samsung A650: 47.89

Care to argue which screen offers the best image quality? Moral is, don't fall for the Jobsian hype over PPI.

EDIT: Added in the Atrix, which is 540x960 @ 4"

Yeah.... obviously the higher number PPI is the best, I choose you, Atrix.

I really like the Atrix's screen. What is the difference between amoled and qHD display?

Also, just visited costco's website and the Atrix is $99.99 with a 2 year upgrade(which I am recieving), so this phone is even harder to refuse.

Actually, that's not what I said. I was trying to illustrate to you that higher PPI in itself does not make a better screen. It is just one factor to consider.

Unless, of course, you'd like to make the argument that any of the above listed phones, including the Atrix, can produce a better image than my TV :)

qHD on the Atrix is a SLCD. qHD refers to the resolution of the display, not the type. qHD means quarter of HD or 1/4 of 1920x1080 = 960x540.

I prefer the super amoled displays on the Samsung galaxy S and nexus S. My galaxy S next to my friend's Atrix - the difference was very pronounced!

Yeahhhhhh, I get what you're saying now.

But when you're sitting 5-10ft away from your TV pixel density comes less into play, versus when you're 12-18 in. away from your phone. But you got a good point.

Still text rendering on the Inspire looks a tad choppy compared to the rendering on the Atrix.

Bingo. And, people tend to hold their phones as close to their face as they deem necessary. I've noticed my friends with larger phones tend to hold the phones further from their face. So, then you have to factor in PPI vs. distance.

The Atrix would still win, but the difference shrinks. And FYI, outside of just PPI, I feel that the Atrix' screen is still superior to that of the Inspire. I just wanted you to make sure that you were factoring in more than just one spec. The Atrix's screen has better contrast, viewing angles, and color reproduction when compared to the Inspire.

    Inspire 4g. Period.

Go to the AT&T store and see for yourself how crappy the Atrix is. Then walk over to the Inspire and prepare to be blown away!

Inspire 4G is pretty good as I like the screen size and Sense UI. It never hurts to just compare the two side by side and see which one you prefer.

I have had my atrix for about 2 weeks now and the only thing I can complain about is the locked bootloader. The battery life is amazing and the phone is very fast.
