Speaking of foto editing apps? There's a great pic of me on my wedding day, this past March. (I remarried as my first wife passed on a couple of years ago.) The problem with the foto is that it's in the kitchen.. I want to change backgrounds. All the apps show it to be so easy, but it really isn't. Any advice? Or am I crashing this thread. If so, I'll just shut up and go away, like a good little mod.

I don't know about "best" app, but I do like Snapseed. It's made by google and is one of the most popular photo editing apps out there with over 100 million installs and a high rating.

    Honorable mention:

    About Snapseed:

Desperately needs to be updated!!! Snapseed does not support the latest version of Android, or any recent updates. Come on Google, get it together!! You force us to download the latest Android updates.... --And yet, you can't even keep your own apps and services up-to-date, maintained, and functioni...

There's not that many android 10 devices out yet. There's not even enough data to add android 10 to the charts. It'll get android 10 support eventually.

This is something better suited for a desktop application. Adobe PS is my go to for this which luckily(CS6) also works on linux.

If it's not a dark photo and there's plenty of contrast between you and the background, then you might just get away with simply using the "magic wand" and/or "quick selection" tools. If not you'll need to use the pen tool with some anchor points.

    Here's some tutorials:

You can also do this in Gimp which is free and available for windows, mac, and linux. There's also video tutorials for it...

That's a bit of a vague question, please elaborate.
Are you looking to do serious photo editing involving retouching, masking, etc.? On the other hand, if all you need is something to do basic tasks like scaling, cropping, simple color/cast fixes, etc. than most photo gallery apps already include that kind of functionality. So if your phone (what model phone do you have and more importantly which version of Android is it running) already has the Gallery app and/or the Google Photos app you don't need to install another app.

There are so many photo editing apps that are free. I personally use snapseed, lightroom cc, and abode sketch. These 2-3 apps are enough for photo editing. Also, they are very easy to use. Anyone can master them just by seeing 2-3 youtube videos.
