Inside the battery door there is a little circular cutout right next to the usb port. There's a sensor or something in there. What is that thing? It's just to the left of the 256 NAND flash in this picture.

It is a port to add an external antenna.

Yeah if you get one you have to get an adapter that fits in there although it is very inefficient due to it being behind the battery cover and the antennas are huge rofl. I really wish they could make an external antenna in a small size to just boost signal!

One of those jackasses who ordered 3 battery doors can drill a hole in one and tell us how it works out.

Take a small (2"x2") piece of paper, fold it twice, put it on top of the battery, slide the door on. It'll hold it just tight enough to keep the door from sliding off by itself.

i thought it was some sort of diagnostic port so they can test it once it is off the assembly line. I remember reading that somewhere.

Your actually looking in the wrong area. The part you are wondering about is to the upper left of the white circular thing above the Q in the Qualcomm baseband processor.

If you get a magnifying glass, you can see the white circular thing inside your Droid. I dont think its an antenna port because that same part is in more than one place.
