What is wssyncmlnps?

I'm not rooted on my Infuse 4G, and on the Running Services settings, this shows up as the process com.wssnps. What is it and what happens if I stop the service?

wssyncmlnps.apk is the Samsung updater service. Since you are not rooted, stopping it will only be temporary. While it is stopped, neither Kies nor OTA updates will work.

How do you get it to stop? I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 I337M and ever since I chose to sync 'messages' using smartswitch, it's been pulling thousands of old conversations from my old iPhone backup.

I don't even know where it's pulling them from!? My iPhone is off!

I can stop the service but then it starts up again when I reboot.....worst. My entire messaging app is slow as all hell and crashes 50% of the time. This is a brand new phone!

ps - I am rooted...could delete the service but do I need it?

Try just freezing it with Titanium Backup app then if you need it you can unfreeze it :thumbup:
